Court Continues Conservatorship Over Britney; Orders Singer To Have No Contact With Lutfi

Jamie Spears’ temporary conservatorship over his daughter, pop singer Britney Spears, was extended on Monday afternoon, after a ruling by Los Angeles Court Commissioner Reva Goetz.

Jamie Spears was made co-conservator, along with attorney Adam Wallett, last Friday by Commissioner Goetz and the decision was upheld despite a challenge by a lawyer Spears attempted to hire herself from inside the psych ward at UCLA’s Medical Center.

The temporary conservatorship was extended until a February 14 hearing as a result of Monday’s hearing.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, as a result of the conservatorship, Jamie Spears and Adam Wallett will have power over Britney, allowing them the ability to make decisions on Britney’s behalf, including those related to her residence, credit cards and finances. The conservators will have the power to change the locks on her homes and have access to Britney’s liquid assets – as well as being able to hire and fire attorneys for the singer.

Their conservator rights were expanded, but at the end of Monday’s hearing, it was unclear exactly how far the types of decisions the temporary conservatorship rights extended to.

During the hearing, Adam Streisand, from the firm Loeb & Loeb, said that Spears, whose stay in the psych ward at the UCLA Medical Center was extended over the weekend for an additional 14 days (beyond her initial 72-hour hold), had hired him.

After listening to testimony from a court appointed medical evaluator however, the Commissioner ruled Streisand could not represent Spears.

Streisand had earlier told the court that Britney Spears wanted Northern Trust Bank to be her conservator instead of her father and Wallett.

Commissioner Goetz also appointed a physician to evaluate Britney Spears’ and the evaluation is due by February 13.

During the hearing, Wallett revealed he was upset that Sam Lutfi, Britney Spears’ self-professed “manager,” refused to open the door when they attempted to serve him notice of Friday’s restraining order, barring him from seeing or communicating with the pop singer.

It was revealed that despite the restraining order, Lutfi has been in contact with the pop singer.

At Monday’s hearing, Goetz also ruled that Spears is to have no communication with Lutfi, through any means.

Additionally, it was noted for the record that Lutfi would soon be served with notice of the restraining order.
