EOnline.com: Another Britney Spears Comeback Is In The Works

E! News has learned that the "Gimme More" songstress, who has been logging numerous hours in a North Hollywood dance studio recently, is gearing up to start work on a video for another tune off of her latest album, Blackout.

"She wants to do the single 'Hot as Ice' as her next video and is ready to take the next step," said a source close to Spears. "She's been working a chair routine out in the studio and is ready to animate it."

To get herself camera-ready, Spears is going to start rehearsing up to four days a week and is looking to hook up with some top local choreographers.

The 26-year-old divorcée, who spent another three hours at home with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James Thursday morning as part of her new visitation arrangement, is "very clear" and focused on her dance training, the source said.

While her much maligned performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in September was also referred to as a comeback, the troubled popster—who at that point hadn't yet lost joint custody of her boys—apparently was fated to face far more serious issues before she could worry about the ol' song and dance.

"Now that a lot of the drama is behind her, she's really getting serious about making a comeback," the source said.

And what of Spears' physique, which as all of her critics know isn't quite what it was back in her heyday?

"Once she gets working out more in the studio, the pounds will come off," the insider added. "They always do."

Spears saw her children for the first time in nearly two months on Saturday, although, per the deal hammered out by attorneys overseeing her father's conservatorship and longtime Kevin Federline counsel Mark Vincent Kaplan, mother and sons were far from alone.

Jamie Spears; a lawyer from Luce Forward, the firm handling his coconservatorship of his daughter's estate; and one of Kevin Federline's security guards were on hand Saturday and are believed to have been present for another visit Monday, as well.

Brit Wigs Out Over White Dress

Looks like Britney Spears is up to her old tricks, making crazy requests of L.A. shopkeepers, the more implausible the better.

Gatecrasher reports that earlier this month, Brit walked into the Betsey Johnson boutique on Melrose Ave. in L.A., and wanted them to copy a Dolce & Gabbana dress that very day, and in all white. When they had to explain to the Britwreck that they couldn't do it well, she just decided to take a wig instead ... a yellow one on a window mannequin, for $100.

Elsewhere in Britland, Lynne Spears is singing the praises of her ex-husband, telling people that he's "stepped up to the plate," according to People.

Police Confirm Britney Drugging Investigation

Police in Los Angeles say they are looking into allegations that Britney Spears was drugged, the Associated Press and TMZ are reporting.

In a statement to AP, Police Captain Kyle Jackson says the claims "are being considered," though a formal investigation has not been launched. The Robbery-Homicide division will determine what, if any, laws have been violated.

Jackson added that no suspect has been identified.

Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, claimed in recent court papers that the pop star's former manager Sam Lutfi drugged her, cut her home phone and yelled at her.

The allegations resulted in a restraining order against Lutfi, who is prohibited from coming within 250 yards of the singer.

Spears, 26, remains under a court-ordered conservatorship.

Momma Lynn got the boys their new haircuts and took them out on a nice day - Feb. 27.
Investagation, Finally!

The LAPD is finally commenting on the investigation first reported by TMZ earlier this month.

As we said, Sam Lutfi is under investigation by the Robbery Homicide division of LAPD for allegedly drugging Brit. LAPD officials first said there was no such investigation. Now, Captain Kyle Jackson of Robbery Homicide has issued the following statement:

"The issues regarding Britney Spears are being considered by the department to determine if laws have been violated. Particular suspects have not yet been fully identified nor has a formal investigation into open charges officially commenced. At this time we don't know whether or not a formal investigation will be initiated."
Wacky Attorney Still Claims He's Britney's Lawyer

Despite his inability to meet standard court deadlines and a federal judge's ruling against his claims, Jon Eardley, the attorney who says he represents Britney Spears, vowed Wednesday to continue his fight.

"We have only just begun the fight," Eardley said in a statment. "There is nothing that will stop me from dismantling, if necessary, this oppressive and unjust conservatorship."

On Feb. 1, a California court appointed Brit's father, Jamie Spears conservator over her personal and business affairs. A court approved attorney, Andrew Wallet was named co-conservator and another attorney, Samuel Ingham was appointed as the singer's lawyer.

Eardley still claims Britney, 26, hired him on Feb. 12, however, lawyers for Jamie Spears argued that Eardley's claims were invalid because under the conservatorship, Britney is not legally able to hire her own counsel.

Yesterday, Federal District Judge Philip Gutierrez ruled the state court's appointment of Sam Ingham precluded Eardley from acting as Britney's lawyer. Judge Gutierrez also ruled the case would remain in state court, not federal court as Eardley sought, because Eardley had no authority to move it.

Since the conservatorship was established, Jamie Spears has managed to quiet his daughter's usual out of control lifestyle which, over the past year, has spiraled downward into a whirlwind of craziness, including a stint in rehab, british accents, pink wings and ultimately Britney's hospitalization and the loss of custody and visitation rights with her sons.

Eardley claims the conservatorship violates Britney's civil rights and that her conservators are not acting in her best interest.

The conservatorship has been extended on two occasions, and remains in effect until March 10.
Lynne Spears 'Sings Praises' Of Britney's Dad, Jamie

Britney Spears's mom, Lynne, has been praising her ex-husband, Jamie, who has taken control of their troubled daughter's affairs.

"Jamie had to change his whole routine. Lynne sings his praises. He has been such a rock. He has stepped up to the plate," a family friend tells PEOPLE.

"He's gathered a team of reputable people who are around [Britney] now. She's not well, but for the first time in a long time she has people around her who really care about her."

As for how Lynne is coping with having her daughter in and out of the hospital, the friend says, "She's up and down. It's a roller coaster ride as a mother."

Plus, Lynne also wants to spend time with her pregnant 16-year-old daughter, Jamie Lynn, who lives in Kentwood, La., the source says. "She has to spend time between L.A. and Kentwood. As a mother she feels needed in both places. She's doing whatever she can to help both girls. She's got that maternal instinct, and it's in high gear."

One positive step for the family has been Britney's recent visits with her sons, Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1.

"Lynne talked to Jamie, and he said it was a good visit," says the source. "[Britney] slipped into that motherly mode. They picked up right where they left off. She still has a long way to go [to get better], but that's what we hope and pray for ... Lynne and Jamie want their child to be whole again."
Star Exclusive! Adnan: Britney's Having My Baby!

Only weeks after Britney Spears drove to Rosarita Beach, Mexico to exchange marriage vows with Adnan Ghalib, the paparazzo is bragging to friends that she is going to have his baby, Star has learned exclusively.

And what do you know! The fallen pop princess' belly is starting to show a little bulge, in spite of hours of classes at the Millennium Dance Complex.

"Britney is Adnan's dream come true. He knows that if he has a child with Brit, he'll be made for life," one friend of Adnan's tells Star.

But while Adnan, 35, may be happy, Britney's family is not. Dad Jamie has stabilized her life and the last thing he and her mom Lynne wants is another grandchild. "Her parents know she can't handle more children," says a Spears family source.

Judge Rejects Civil Rights Challenge In Britney Case

A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a civil rights challenge in Britney Spears's conservatorship case, allowing the pop star's father to maintain his temporary control of her $100 million estate.

U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez returned the case to state probate court and sent a rebuke to the lawyer who launched the challenge, Jon Eardley, who had claimed to represent Spears.

"Mr. Eardley fails to explain why he can bring this claim for her in the first instance. He cannot," Gutierrez said in his three-page ruling. "Mr. Eardley had no authority to remove the case from state court. He is neither a party nor a defendant. While he claims to be Ms. Spears's attorney, the probate court ... found that she was incapable of retaining her own counsel."

Ruling a Victory for Britney's Father
The ruling was a victory for Spears's father, Jamie, who was named as a temporary co-conservator of her estate by the California probate court after Spears was placed under an involuntary, emergency hold at the UCLA Medical Center's psychiatric ward late last month.

As temporary co-conservator, Jamie has great influence over the pop star's fortune as well as her day-to-day activities.

In a highly publicized move, Eardley, a lawyer with practices in Washington, D.C., New York and Whittier, Calif., filed a complaint in U.S. District Court on behalf of Spears. He lashed out against the conservatorship as a "violation of [Spears's] civil rights," and requested the case be moved from California state court to a federal court.

Jamie Spears and the other temporary co-conservator, attorney Andrew Wallet, had called Eardley's move "a brazen but vain attempt to strip a probate court of jurisdiction ... by an attorney without a client."

Britney Goes Jeans Shopping
While the federal judge ruled in Jamie Spears's favor, Britney ventured out for an afternoon shopping trip. Spears, accompanied by her assistant and a family friend, arrived at the Levi's Store in Beverly Hills in a chauffeur-driven black Escalade ESV.

"Britney walked in to the store in jeans with a green top and a huge smile," eyewitness Brenda Gold tells PEOPLE.
Britney Being Shy

Once upon a time, a trip to the gas station meant a big-time photo op for Britney Spears - but these days, she's just in it for the fuel!

We ran into Britney filling up her SUV last night as she and her father Jamie were heading home.

Not only did Britney not cause a scene or even get out of the car - she actually ducked behind her jacket!

So what do you think? Is Britney on her best behavior after getting her kids for a few hours this weekend? Or has she completely turned over a new leaf?

Britney's Night Out With Dad

After a three-hour visit with her sons on Saturday (her first since Jan. 3), Britney Spears continued her family time Saturday night, stepping out to Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills with her father, Jamie.

Just before 8 p.m., the pop star and her dad were joined by an assistant, a family friend and two bodyguards for dinner. Clad in a purple silk dress, Spears smiled and appeared in good spirits as she headed inside.

"Britney looked stunning and everyone turned around to get a glimpse of her," says a witness at the restaurant, adding that the group lead Spears to a private dining room. "Everyone seemed extremely protective of Britney."

The party of six dined on a seafood tower with lobster, steak, french fries and lobster mashed potatoes. But Spears's good mood seemed to diminish over dinner. According to an observer, "She seemed quiet." After numerous bathroom and cigarette breaks, Spears and co. left the restaurant around 9:30 p.m., making their way through a pack of photographers with the help of restaurant staff.

Asked if he'd ever helped a celebrity exit the restaurant, a chef told PEOPLE, "Never! It was like being in a war zone. I almost lost my [chef's] hat."

Brit's Boys Pay a Visit!

Less than 24 hours after it was discovered that a deal had been hammered out between the lawyers in the Britney Spears vs. Kevin Federline custody case that would allow the pop star supervised visits with her children, the little Federline lads came to pay mom a visit at her L.A. home.

Around 9am PT on Saturday, a Dodge truck carrying Sean Preston, 2, and one-year-old Jayden James entered Britney's gated community, The Summit. According to sources, the visit is scheduled to end at noon PT.

Also inside the house are Brit's father Jamie, a pyschologist, one of Kevin's bodyguard, the court-ordered monitor, and a lawyer.

This is the first time the boys have seen their mother since the Jan. 3 standoff with authorities that landed Britney in the hospital for several nights. Until today, she had only been allowed to speak with her children during short phone conversations.

Britney Gets A Visit From Her Boys

Britney Spears was reunited with her sons Saturday.

After lawyers for Spears and Kevin Federline reached a visitation agreement Friday, the pop star saw her children Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, for the first time since Jan. 3. The boys were taken to her Studio City home Saturday morning by Federline's bodyguard.

"Break The Ice" Music Video!

Many have forgotten, however, that in the summer of 2007 Britney has shot 2 times the video. The first video was shot on 9 July and were shooting for Gimme More. The second part of shooting continued for Gimme More on 07 August and ended the night 08 August.

People.com and MTV.com announced that Britney actually ended on 7 August shooting of Gimme More, and then begin and end those of a new video. It said that the second video filmed in the day was Piece Of Me, but now we begin to think that the video Break The Ice was shot in the day.

Visitation Update!

We are LOVING this news -- Brit's and Kevin's attorneys have come to an agreement to allow Britney to see her boys -- and soon!

It's been what Jamie's been telling his daughter all along -- follow what I say and do what I tell you to do and I'll get visitation for you. THAT is the only reason Brit's agreed to stay holed up in her house and allow a bodyguard to drive her around the few times she's been out. Her goal has been to see her kids and now it looks like it may happen.

Mark Vincent Kaplan told X17online:

"Yes, it's true but the judge still has to sign off on it and fax it over. If that happens tonight, then then Ms. Spears will be seeing her boys very soon after that. But it's not a total done deal yet."

As for reports that visitation will require the presence of both Jamie Spears and a psychiatrist at the time of visitation:

"Let's just say that my partner Jim Simon and I have been working for two days and nights on this, and it will involve many more specific terms to be met than just those two people in the room. We have put lots of specific terms, conditions and protections in place to make visitation happen in the safeest way possible. None of this would not have happened if Jamie Spears had not been involved. That's for sure. He gets a lot of credit for helping make this happen. But we've worked very hard with the conservator lawyers, as well, to make this all work."

X17 XCLUSIVE!!! -
My Britney crew is telling me she was scheduled to go to Millennium Dance Studio tonight but has cancelled and will be staying in. It's too late for Sean and Jayden to be coming over now, but could Brit be resting up for a visit tomorrow? We hope so!
Brit's Dad -- Key Player In Visitation

We broke the story that lawyers for both sides have agreed to visitation in a therapeutic setting. Now we've learned the specifics. The kids can visit with momma, provided Jamie Spears and her psychiatrist are present. There are other strings, but at a minimum Jamie and the shrink are required.

We're told both sides are impressed that Jamie has stabilized Britney and the whirlwind surrounding her crazy life, and that's a core reason why a deal was struck.

Sources say Britney will begin seeing her kids again imminently.
Courthouse Update - Sam's Hearing

So here's what went down at the courthouse today with the hearing regarding Sam Lutfi's restraining order:

Bottom line: at 6pm yesterday, a federal judge agreed that the case be moved to district court. Therefore, Commissioner Goetz today couldn't rule on any thing until the case, if the case, gets remanded/sent back to state court.

However, despite Lutfi not being served by the Wednesday deadline, the restraining order is valid because Jamie Spears went to federal court yesterday and was granted an extension of restraining order until March 17, and therefore lutfi was served in time for that March 17 deadline.

On February 25, the federal judge will review arguments from both Jamie Spears and Jon Eardley to decide if Eardly showed good cause to keep the case with the federal court. Jamie will argue that because Britney was found "to lack the capacity to retain counsel on February 6," Eardley can't legally say he's Britney's lawyer.

Meanwhile Commissioner Goetz said: "We are in a holding pattern until the district court decides which jurisdiction should continue with the case."

When Geraldine Wyle (an attorney recently retained by Jamie Spears for his conservatorship) offered her all of the federal filings, she said: "You keep them. I want to keep the line of demarcation clear so no one thinks I'm over stepping my bounds....for now, we are in a holding pattern till the distrcit court rules on February 25."

Wyle stated that they do not want this case remanded to the feds because "the federal process doesn't really suit a conservatorship."

In response to serving Lutfi after the 48 hour deadline, instead serving him only 21.5 hours before the deadline of court today at 1:30pm, Wyle said this: "Despite our very best efforts - and I mean our very best - Mr. Lutfi did not surface until after the deadline clearly passed."

Addressing Eardly's claim to move the case to the feds, Jeffrey Wexler (of the Luce Forward firm, with Wyle) said: "Since the February 6 ruling form this court stated that Ms. Spears lacks the capacity to retain counsel, that means Mr. Eardley can't file a removal [from state court] on her behalf" because he's not legally her lawyer.

Whew! Did you get all that? I dunno but my non-professional legal opinion is that it sounds messy!
Breaking News: Britney Regains Visitation Rights

In what OK! has learned was a deal more than a week in the making, a judge has ruled that Britney Spears will once again receive visitation rights with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Under the ruling, Britney can see her boys in a "theraputic setting"--meaning, among other stipulations, that Jamie Spears and Brit's psychiatrist must be present.

Kevin Federline is reportedly on board with the commissioner's decision and is, along with lawyers for both sides, impressed at Jamie's ability to quiet the whirlwind surrounding Britney's life.

K-fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan tells OK! exclusively that today's ruling would never have happened if Jamie hadn't stepped in to stabilize his daughter.

"Obviously this wouldn’t have happened if Jamie Spears wasn’t involved but there’s much more to it than those two people being present,” Kaplan tells OK! exclusively. "Let’s just say that my partner Jim Simon and I put lots of specific terms, conditions and protections in place that go far beyond those two people being present."

So how soon will Britney get to see her boys? "Britney very, very soon will be seeing her boys again," Kaplan tell OK!. "At the moment we are waiting for the orders to be signed and faxed by the judge and assuming that we receive that tonight, visitation will happen very quickly.”
Britney Case Now In Hands Of Federal Court

In a surprise announcement Friday afternoon, Commissioner Reva Goetz announced that the case regarding the conservatorship of singer Britney Spears is now "in a holding pattern," because it is now in the hands of federal court judge to decide who has jurisdiction over these matters.

On Feb. 14, a lawyer named John Eardley filed papers with the court claiming that the current state of the conservatorship, which is managed by Brit's dad Jamie Spears and court-appointed attorney Andrew Wallet, violates the pop star's constitutional rights and that both the conservatorship case and her ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline should be moved into the jurisdiction of a federal court.

On Tuesday, the commissioner in the custody case said earlier this week that that case would stay put and the same decision was expected to come out of Commissioner Goetz's courtroom today. However, everyone must now wait until Feb. 25, when a federal court will hear the motion and decide whether it should become a federal case or be remanded back to Commissioner Goetz.

Should the case not become a federal matter, the next hearing is scheduled for March 10, where the topic of extending or possibly making permanent the conservatorship will be discussed.
YES YES YES

TMZ has learned Britney Spears has won her visitation rights back -- with strings attached.

We're told lawyers for both sides have hashed out a deal in which Britney will get visitation in a therapeutic setting. Commish Scott Gordon has signed off on the agreement.

It's a deal more than a week in the making. The parties had agreed in principle last weekend to a deal but it fell apart in court last Tuesday.

We're also told K-Fed is down with Britney seeing the kids again.

Judge Extends Sam Lutfi's Restraining Order

A federal judge late Thursday extended until March 17 a temporary restraining order preventing Britney Spears's pal Sam Lutfi from approaching the troubled pop star and her family, according to court papers

The two-page order by U.S. District Judge Phillip Gutierrez was in response to a request by Spears's father Jamie Spears, who is co-conservator of her $100 million estate.

Jamie had asked the judge to extend the temporary restraining order served on Thursday and set to expire a day later on Friday until the judge rules on an unusual civil rights challenge to the conservatorship.

The temporary restraining order could be extended at a March 17 hearing. But Jamie Spears would have to be able to successfully serve Lutfi with notice of the hearing; in the past, Jamie has complained that Lutfi apparently attempted to dodge being served.

The temporary restraining order, which forbids Lutfi from getting within 250 yards of Spears, her homes and her family's homes, alleges: "Mr. Lutfi has drugged Britney. He has cut Britney's home phone line and removed her cell phone chargers. He claims to control everything."
Adnan Cheating on Brit?

OK! has learned that Adnan Ghalib, Britney Spears' "faithful" boyfriend, may not be the supportive, loving partner he's tried so hard to make himself out to be. On Wednesday around 10 p.m. PT, sources tell OK! that Adnan pulled up to the gate outside Britney's home at the Summit--only to be turned away minutes later!

Perhaps the ill feelings were due to reports of Adnan getting cozy with other women in the weeks following Britneys' release from the UCLA psych ward. An eyewitness confirmed to OK! that just prior to showing up at Brit's house last night, Adnan was videotaped leaving Bossa Nova Restaurant in West Hollywood with a mysterious girl on his arm. When Adnan spotted photographers, he quickly made a dash for it. The girl claimed she was a "business associate."

Adnan has made no secret of his supposed devotion to Britney as she attempts to get her life back in order. However, while Brit has been staying quiet these last few weeks, Adnan has been seen all over town with different girls. Two weeks ago in Beverly Hills, he was spotted with two women, whom he claimed were out of town friends.
Hey Sam! You Got Served! UPDATE!

TMZ has learned Brit's BFF, Sam Lutfi, has finally been served with a restraining order from her parents -- sorta. As we reported earlier, the restraining order had to be served by yesterday at 1:30 PM to be valid. We're told that since it wasn't served until today, it may not be valid! That means they may have to serve him again with updated paperwork.

We hear Sam was finally found at his house in West L.A., today at around 11:00 AM PT as he walked out the door.
Britney Pal Sam Lutfi Served With Restraining Order

Britney Spears's pal Sam Lutfi was served Thursday with a temporary restraining order to keep him away from the troubled pop star and her family, according to court papers.

The order was sought by the temporary co-conservators of Spears's $100 million estate her father Jamie and an attorney, who allege that Lutfi had avoided service for three weeks.

The restraining order, which forbids Lutfi from getting within 250 yards of Spears, her homes and her family's homes, alleges: "Mr. Lutfi has drugged Britney. He has cut Britney's home phone line and removed her cell phone chargers. He claims to control everything."

He was served at 11 a.m. as he left his apartment in Westside Los Angeles, say the papers filed by Jamie Spears.

At the time the restraining order was sought, Spears's family had been locked in a power struggle with Lufti, who had been her constant companion as her behavior became increasingly bizarre.

Most recently, Lutfi's name arose in court papers filed by Spears's father in a fight against an attorney claiming to represent Spears and trying to move her estate case to federal court on the grounds her civil rights are being violated. Jamie Spears said he didn't know how the attorney, Jon Eardley, got involved, but noted that Eardley has the same publicist as Lutfi.
MTV Has Made A Mistake!

The music network had been advertising on their website the following:

"Monday …we're going to snitch a look at "Break the Ice," the next music video from a way-under-the-radar performer by the name of Britney Spears."

Well, it ain't gonna happen!

MTV has pulled that blurb from their site and released a statement saying, "The video is NOT premiering on Monday."

A Bipolar Mom Offers Insight Into Britney Spears' Struggle

As Britney Spears receives treatment for bipolar disorder and struggles to regain custody of her two sons, Us Weekly spoke to a young mother afflicted with the same mental illness to offer insight into the singer's life.

“Carol” (not her real name) was a wild, uncontrollable 18-year-old when she became a mother. But after some manic episodes (including joyriding with her infant son in a car), she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Carol soon decided to give up her baby, then 18 months, to family friends for adoption.

Now 28, the Idaho resident who says she’s doing “really well” and still has contact with her nine-year-old boy tells Us her story:

"The thing that made me think Britney might have bipolar was that I recognized the look on her face, I've had that look before. It's the eyes, there's kind of a wildness. It looks like her mind's going really fast and I'm sure that she went through the same thing with the racing thoughts that I did and I could see the change in her from day to day, being up then being down.

“I had ADD as a child and wasn't diagnosed bipolar until I was 18. As a teenager, I didn't know what was wrong with me. It felt very hard to fit in because I had these mood swings and went through periods where I didn't want to see anybody and all of my friends would think that I had dropped them. It wasn't that, it was just that I couldn't handle being around people because of the depression or whatever else I was going through. Then there would be periods where I was the social butterfly at every party and on the phone all the time and it was difficult in school because a lot of times I would come across as being on drugs because I was manic. I'd talk too loud and get too energetic and it would freak my teachers out. My mother thought I was on drugs when I wasn't.

"When I was depressed I slept too much and had a really poor self image. That's the other thing, when I was manic or hyper-manic I had an inflated ego. You feel like you're the prettiest, smartest girl in the room and then when you're depressed, you feel like you're the ugliest, dumbest girl in the room.

"When Britney shaved her hair or got married to her childhood friend, I can relate to that. It's a manic impulsivity. You can think something's a great idea and you just immediately do it and then two hours later, you go, 'oh my god, what did I do?' I never slept with strangers but I did with friends, just on a whim. I would be drunk and it would just happen. I would go through long periods of celibacy, then a two-month phase where I'd sleep with four people, which is a lot for me. I felt more attractive during those times, I had a sense of immortality, that nothing that I did was going to affect the future. You just really live in the moment. You don't think about
tomorrow. Two weeks later, I would beat myself up over it. At one point, I was going to sell my car and move to New Orleans and be a stripper. Luckily my parents talked me out of it!

"I also couldn't empathize with other people at all because I was so wrapped up in my illness, so I would get into arguments with people a lot. I had some friends who were very patient who have put up with a lot from me. I remember screaming at my best friend for about 30 minutes straight and calling her all kinds of awful names, when if the same thing had happened now I would have just told her she had upset me.

"I would also sneak out of the house and I was dating this guy in high school who had tattoos all over him, my parents hated him! My parents hate tattoos and piercings and when I turned 18 I pierced my tongue, thinking they wouldn't notice. Of course they did, I don't know what I was thinking.

"There was a lot of drug abuse too. I was a heavy pot smoker from when I was 14 until 21. I also dabbled in cocaine and ecstasy, acid and mushrooms. The
pot was because of the insomnia, it was the only way I could sleep, and the cocaine was to try and lift me out of the depression.

"I also find it hard to read people and choose people who are bad for me. I was friends with this woman for three years until about a year ago. She seemed very conservative and sensible, but she was actually an alcoholic and sex addict. The one thing about bad people being friends with bad people is that they won't let go of you.

“I understand why Britney was spending time with Sam Lutfi. Controlling people are attractive because you feel lost when you're un-medicated. It seems like 'oh he's got all the answers, he'll take care of me.'

"My son's father was very controlling too. Slowly I wasn't allowed to talk to my friends and then eventually I wasn't even allowed to speak to my mother. He was also addicted to drugs, which I didn't realize. I was with the boyfriend before him for five years and he was the same way, he had to control everything.

"Giving up my son was so hard. I still get a lot of people who judge me for that, especially as he was 18 months old at the time, but I had realized I wasn't stable enough and his father wasn't in the picture. It was also hard to empathize with what the baby wanted. It's not that you don't care. A lot of times, my son would want to go outside and play and I couldn't take him because I was so depressed I couldn't move. It's not that I didn't want to, it was that I physically couldn't.

"My son is much better off. But if I were to have a child now I wouldn't be afraid of being a parent because I know that I'm stable enough now. Of course I love my son and I wish that I could have kept him, but probably the sanest decision I made at that point was to give him up for adoption. I didn't have the economic advantage of being able to hire nannies and have other people around.

“Also with Britney, Kevin Federline seems to have gone out of his way to clean up his act and be a good father and my son didn't have that with his dad.

"I think Britney will be able to cope with having her kids back again. The thing about bipolar disorder is if you're being treated you will never go that far down again. She can afford the best doctors in the world but the real trick is going to be finding the right medication for her, which could take five years. I just happen to have found the right cocktail for me.

“I'm on the newest medication called Lamictal and it's worked wonders. It's a mood stabilizer with antidepressant qualities and you don't gain tons of weight like you did with the old medications.

"I think Britney can make it, but once you get your mind stabilized, you have to pick up the shambles of your life that are left around you, so it'll take her a while to fix that. I don't see any reason why she wouldn't be a good mother, it's obvious she loves her children."

Dad Fights "Brazen" Attempt To Move Brit Case

Despite some adamant claims to the contrary, Britney Spears' troubles are still very much an L.A. story.

A U.S. District Court judge has given attorney Jon Eardleythe latest legal eagle enlisted by the "Toxic" songstress to battle her father's conservatorship status until Feb. 29 to provide a legitimate reason to remove the case from Los Angeles to federal court. (View the order.)

A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for Mar. 17.

Sam Lutfi's publicist filed a petition on Feb. 14 to transfer the case on behalf of the New York-based Eardley. The complaint alleged Britney's civil rights had been trampled by the court's refusal to properly investigate her family's claims that she's unfit to manage her finances, choose what company to keep and make various other decisions regarding her welfare.

Michael Sands, acting as spokesman for both Lutfi and Eardley, said last week that he had filed the documents before a court commissioner extended Jamie Spears' temporary conservatorship until Mar. 10, thereby making the action null and void.

Meanwhile, an L.A. Superior Court spokesperson said Friday that all Britney business remained under their jurisdiction.

"Jon Eardley is very happy that the judge will look at the explosive documentary evidence in the Britney Spears conservatorship railroad," Sands told E! News Tuesday.

"This is a very positive step that the judge is concerned. Jon Eardley will have court papers filed by Feb. 29...This is the first step in the victimization of Britney Spears by L.A. Superior Court."

But just in case Eardley can come up with an argument to sway U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez, Britney's father has cooked up plenty of reasons to block the switcheroo.

Jamie Spears' camparguing that Britney isn't capable of hiring counsel and, therefore, Eardley is "an attorney without a client"filed a motion Tuesday objecting to Lutfi & Co.'s "brazenbut vainattempt to strip a probate court of jurisdiction before it could enter Orders" prolonging the conservatorship. (View the motion.)

Eardley's "well-pleaded allegations" do not present an issue of federal law, the filing states, adding that any charges on Eardley's part that Jamie Spears "supplements" his daughter's medication "disregards the fact that the Probate Court has not granted Mr. Spears medical powers and that medications therefore do not fall within the scope of the conservatorship."

In response to Eardley's contention that Britney's "unenviable status of having virtually no privacy in her life" and her "suffocating confinement" at the hands of her conservators could affect the effectiveness of her treatment, the conservators argue, once again, that the probate court did not grant Jamie authority over the troubled pop star's medication.

"Because there is no logical relationship between Britney's fame and the alleged federal interest to be addressed," Eardley's concerns about Britney's medical treatment under her father's care are a moot point.

The conservators are also asking that Eardley foot the bill for this latest round of attorneys' fees, because he "lacked any reasonably objective basis" for filing the removal request.

But it's the fact that Britney was previously ruled incapable of hiring her own lawyers that will likely prove the largest obstacle to sending the case to federal court.

"In Britney's case, the commissioner revoked her power to retain her own legal counsel," Kevin Whittaker, a San Francisco-based litigation attorney who's not involved in the Spears case, told E! News last week. "Oftentimes, the conservatee can retain their own legal counsel. This wasn't the case with Britney. So, the new attorney's claim to be her legal counsel will be found invalid."

A reason why Jamie's camp is arguing that papers filed on her behalf listing Eardley as counsel of record don't amount to a hill of beans.

Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet were named temporary conservators of Britney's multimillion-dollar estate on Feb. 1, the day after she was admitted to UCLA Medical Center's psych ward for evaluation.

Although Britney was spotted dining out with her dad in Hollywood over the weekend, sources close to her have said she is anxious to extract herself from his legal grip.

She has not met with Eardley in person, Sands said, but they have spoken several times. And sources close to the situation have said Britney has been in contact with Lutfi through an intermediary.

Lutfi, who has continued to avoid being served with the Spears family's restraining order against him, "is at war with Jamie," a Spears insider told E! News Friday. "This is his first strike."
Lutfi Drug Probe -- Full Steam Ahead

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the LAPD investigation into Sam Lutfi allegedly drugging Britney Spears is well underway.

We're told the case has now been assigned to Robbery Homicide, primarily because of the sensitive nature of the allegations and the intense media interest in Britney Spears. Sources say investigators have interviewed several witnesses regarding the drugs in Brit's system at the time she was most recently committed.

We're told the investigation had been temporarily derailed because of the death of an LAPD SWAT officer, but it's now back on track.

One source says the investigation will probably be concluded in late March.
Report Of LAPD Investigation Into Sam Drugging Britney Is Bogus, Says LAPD!

Is Sam Lutfi being investigated by the LAPD Major Crimes Division, Robbery Homicide Division, or any other division of the LAPD for allegedly drugging Britney Spears? NO!

TMZ's report today and their Feb 15th report in which they cite "law enforcement sources," are not true, according the the LAPD.

Tyler Gray at Radaronline, picked up the phone and called the LAPD to clarify TMZ's initial report only to find out the whole thing was wrong!

And now we just picked up the phone to do the same and guess what -- LAPD spokesperson Richard French told us the same thing -- Sam Lutfi is NOT being investigated by any division of the the LAPD for anything.

French added that any LAPD employee giving information to the media that could compromise an investigation would certainly be at risk of losing his/her job. That said, it sounds like TMZ sources didn't break any rules -- unless punking a website is a crime!

Meanwhile, Sam's publicist Michael Sands wants to media to stop punking his client and focus on Britney's father Jamie. He posed this challenge to Mr. Spears in a phone conversation with us today ...

Meanwhile, Sam's publicist Michael Sands wants to media to stop punking his client and focus on Britney's father Jamie. He posed this challenge to Mr. Spears in a phone conversation with us today:

“Give Britney back her civil rights and be a stand up guy and remove yourself from her residence please give back her money her credit cards, the keys to her cars and her cell phones until Judge Goetz rules later this month."

Sands invites Jamie Spears to send Sands an e-mail; he says he would like to have a meeting with him personally and extend an olive branch.

Let's see if THAT happens!
Britney's Perfume Still On Top

She may be taking a break from touring, promoting, and her career in general, but Britney Spears is still making bank off her perfume lines.

Spears' perfume line is the most successful celebrity scent in Britain.

Spears beat off competition from Kylie Minogue, whose perfume "Darling" was the second-biggest seller. David and Victoria Beckham's "Intimately Beckham" fragrances came in third place.
Britney's Dad Fights Back To Keep Control

Lawyers for Jamie Spears contend that Britney Spears's conservator case shouldn't be transferred from state to federal court and that an attorney seeking the move doesn't even represent the pop singer as he claims.

In court papers filed Tuesday, Spears's father and the other temporary co-conservator of her estate, Andrew Wallet, called lawyer Jon Eardley's highly publicized efforts to move the case "a brazen but vain attempt to strip a probate court of jurisdiction ... by an attorney without a client."

Eardley's effort got a cool reception from U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez, who on Tuesday gave Eardley until Feb. 29 to argue why Gutierrez shouldn't reject the request. If Eardley fails to make a good enough case by then, the matter stays in state Superior Court with Jamie and Wallet remaining in charge of Britney's affairs and $100 million estate.

"The jurisdictional allegations appear to be defective," said the the judge in a tentative ruling.

Legal Analyst Calls Challenge Novel

Eardley's approach "is certainly novel, but I don't think it can succeed," says Duke law school professor Erwin Chemerinsky, a constitutional law expert. "A case can be removed from state to federal court only if it could have been brought in federal court in the first instance. I can imagine no possible way that this case could have been brought in federal court in the first instance."

Loyola Law School Professor Stan Goldman adds: "Wishing doesn't make it so."

Eardley was unavailable for comment. His spokesperson, Michael Sands, said on Wednesday that Eardley would file "overwhelming evidence" as to why the case belongs in federal court.

"Obviously the judge wants to see what we have expressed in our original papers," Sands says, adding he sees Gutierrez's request for additional documentation as a "great opportunity."

Lawyer Claims Britney's Civil Rights Denied
Eardley has told PEOPLE that Britney whose affairs have been overseen by the co-conservators since her hospitalization in a psych ward is being "deprived of her Constitutional rights." He says he's seeking a "return to normalcy" when it comes to the singer's living and legal situations.

But according to the co-conservator papers, a court has already found that Britney "lacks the capacity" to hire an attorney Eardley or anybody else and even if she did have that capacity, there are no legal grounds to move her case to federal court.

The papers didn't say whom Jamie thought was behind Eardley's involvement, but noted that Eardley's spokesperson also represents Britney pal Sam Lutfi, now the target of a restraining order by the star's parents.

Eardley, the papers allege, tried to do something similar in 2006 allegedly seek to move a state case to federal court on behalf of a client he didn't have and was ordered to pay the other side's attorney fees.

"Given his prior experience, Mr. Eardley should have been especially attuned to the impropriety," the papers say.
Paparazzi Arrested In West Hollywood Incidents

Four photographers are booked after allegedly blocking sidewalks. Two were outside a salon, hoping to see Britney Spears; the other two were near a nightclub, looking for Lindsay Lohan.
By Richard Winton and Andrew Blankstein, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers February 21, 2008
The price of chasing Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and other nightclub-hopping celebrities got steeper overnight, at least for four paparazzi who were booked on charges arising from blocking sidewalks in West Hollywood.

The arrests, made early this morning and Tuesday night by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies, continued local law enforcement efforts to crack down on aggressive paparazzi since Spears was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last month. So many photographers, celebrity reporters and onlookers crowded the scene that patients and hospital staffers had troubling getting into the facility.

On Tuesday night, sheriff's deputies booked two photographers -- David Tonnessen, 31, and Christian Shostele, 37 -- outside B2V Salon in West Hollywood, where Spears had made a stop. The arrests came shortly before 8 p.m. after paparazzi packed the sidewalk and entranceway and had been ordered by deputies to leave enough room for passersby.
OK! Cover Story: Inside Britney's Lockdown

On Feb. 16, Britney Spears, looking calm and healthier than ever, embarked on her first real public outing since being admitted to UCLA's psychiatric unit. Accompanied by her father, Jamie Spears and three associates, the former pop star and this new, slightly older entourage dined together at hot new Hollywood restaurant Citrus at Social.

But while her father's influence and control seem to be working, sources tell OK! Brit is far from happy with the status quo. During dinner, eyewitnesses say the singer made several trips to the bathroom, and looked like she wanted to be anywhere but the trendy hotspot.

"She seemed bored," a restaurant insider tells OK!. "You could see the anger boiling up inside her. I never saw her talk to her dinner companions."

OK! has learned, in fact, that a secret battle is raging between the pop singer and her folks, who are trying to keep her on total lockdown in an attempt to get her life back on track.

Britney's father is not allowing her to drink alcohol, see her friends and insists that she prays in her pajamas every night. Jamie has also been encouraging his daughter to teach childrens' classes at her favorite hangout, Millennium Dance Complex.

So far, Britney has been compliant with her dad's rules, but sources tell OK! that the singer is in the midst of plotting her revenge. Britney has been sending secret text messages to her former party pal and cousin Alli Sims and is reportedly working with her and Sam Lutfi to try to oust her father as her conservator.

"She's rebelling," Millennium owner Robert Baker tells OK!. "She's still not at that point where she's mature enough to understand what her dad is doing and how he's trying so hard to help her. Dad has come to stabilize her, but right now she doesn't want it. She's got that teenage rebellion thing going on."

X17 XCLUSIVE: Britney's First Night Home

After an exhausting day of running from one place to the next, Britney Spears finally came to rest at the Summit last night for the first time since being admitted to UCLA's Mental Health Center.

The pop starlet changed out of her pink wig and into some more comfortable clothes before heading outside for some more quality time with Adnan.

Despite the day's seriousness, Britney and Adnan appeared to be in a playful mood - for instance, when Britney accidentally dropped a glass (around two minutes into our clip below), Adnan pretended that he'd been struck in the eye by a flying shard. Needless to say, Britney got concerned - but was happily able to laugh it off when Adnan revealed that he was kidding!

From time to time, Britney's mother Lynne would check in with her daughter. At one point, she stopped outside to say goodnight to Britney and Adnan - and to tell the pair that she'd be visiting Sean and Jayden the next day! (Listen up at 4:08 of our clip - you can actually hear her saying it!)

Hopefully Britney got some rest last night - after all, yesterday was quite a day for her!

We were a little worried to see that pink wig - after all, you all remember what it supposedly means!

X17 XCLUSIVE - TROUBLE AGAIN AT BRITNEY'S HOUSE

Britney's back at her Beverly Hills home now after an afternoon of running around LA.

Britney, Adnan, Jamie, and Lynne are all inside.

An X17 photographer drove Britney and Adnan back home from a restaurant in the Valley and when they arrived at the Summit gate, Brit got nervous and wanted to leave. Apparently the family wants to get her back into treatment.

Is this a second intervention? Will Brit go willingly?

We hope this doesn't become another stand-off with $25,000 worth of tax payers' dollars going toward helicopters and police escorts!

Daddy Spears Says Britney's Life Is At Risk

Jamie Spears released this statement to CNN's Anderson Cooper:

"As parents of an adult child in the throws of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe. We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."

Is Jamie's concern legit or overkill? Would Britney be better off back at the hospital?

Update: The Story So Far!

What we know so far in a nutshell, is that Britney Spears checked out of the UCLA Medical centre earlier on today.

She immediately drove back to her home at The Summit before heading back out again with much apprehension of where she wanted to go, eventually settling on her trusted Beverly Hills Hotel.

Adnan, cars, lawyers, Century City, disappearing act blah blah blah, X17 pulling their hair out.....

Basically, Ghalib who was called directly by Britney upon her release, she had requested for Adnan to meet her at the Beverly Hills which he did, but unaware of the technicalities of her release. That people, at this moment remains the same. A mystery.

Lots of rumors.

Time will tell...

Adnan has been in contact with her parents previous to today’s events, and as the day has unraveled they have all agreed to get Britney safely back to her home so that she can get the medical care and love that she deserves.

We can reveal that Britney’s family, including Adnan are taking care of Miss Spears at The Summit and are all doing very well.

We hope and believe this is the true start of her recovery.

Update: After spending most of the evening with The Spears at The Summit Adnan left and went back home at 2.30am. This to give the family some alone time.

They'll Probably Be Back In Court Tomorrow

Britney Spears is a free woman and her parents are clearly frustrated, especially after today's circus in the streets of Bev Hills.

Based on what we know, it's a good bet Jamie Spears will be back in court -- we're guessin' tomorrow -- asking the Commish to put some teeth in the conservatorship order. That order gives the conservator power to restrict the visitors Brit receives. No doubt Ma and Pa were frustrated that Brit let a paparazzo ride with her in her car today. And we're hearing they were none too happy about the people she saw at the Bev Hills Hotel.

It wouldn't be at all unusual for the conservator to ask for an order requiring the cops to enforce the instructions Jamie lays down. In other words, he could call the Bev Hills Police and ask them to remove the pap from the car.

Likewise, the conservatorship gives Jamie the right to approve contracts. It's a good bet he would not have approved Britney buying stuff or getting a room at the hotel. Think about the cops going to the hotel and telling the manager they can't let Brit buy stuff or get rooms without Jamie's consent and if they defied Jamie they could be held in contempt.

We'll be in court tomorrow ... just in case, so stay tuned.

Britney's Car: It's Audi Here!

In the middle of all the craziness today, Britney Spears had one of her cars towed from her house!

Britney And Adnan Visit Her Lawyer

Fresh from a quick jaunt to the Beverly Hills Hotel, Britney and Adnan drove to the L.A. offices of lawyer Adam Streisand.

When TMZ called Streisand's office, we were directed to the marketing department. Huh?

Streisand went to court earlier this week to have Jamie and Andrew Wallet removed as her conservators, but was shut down when he couldn't prove he had been retained by Britney.

Holy S**t -- Lutfi Sleeping With The Enemy!!!

TMZ has learned Sam Lutfi, the man who is legally required to stay away from Brit, is counterattacking, with the help of ... drum roll please ... Michael Sands, the former media consultant for K-Daddy's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan.

Sands, who knows a thing or two about crisis management, has been brought on board by Lutfi to, as Lutfi put it to us, "set the record straight" about who he is.

Sands cryptically told TMZ, "I'm honored to work with a patriot like Sam Lutfi." BTW, while Sands worked for Kaplan, his mission was partly to dig up dirt on Brit's former manager.

For his part, Lutfi told TMZ, "Michael did his research and found the truth."

Stay tuned...

Sources tell E! News that Britney Spears' $3,000 Yorkie, London, and two other dogs, V and Baby, have been placed in safe custody.

No judge was needed to order or approve of the custody transfer, but insiders exclusively tell E! News that London and the two other dogs are in the care of Britney's pal Alli Sims, who took charge of them last weekend.

"They're all in very safe hands," says a source, declining to identify the exact location in L.A. where the woofers are holed up. The pal did tell E!, however, that "they miss their mommy."

Sam Tries To Sell Britney Out

In recent days, Sam Lutfi, the close companion of Britney Spears who is now legally forbidden from making contact with her, has accused Brit's parents Jamie and Lynne Spears of only "wanting their daughter's money."

And yet, ironically, someone claiming to be Sam's representative recently contacted OK! wanting to make a deal for his story — despite him having signed a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement with Britney. An insider tells OK! exlusively that Sam has tried numerous times to sell photos of Britney and her boys as well.

"Talk about the pot calling the kettle black," a source close to the Spears family tells OK!. "He (Sam) is a bad guy in all of this and he hopefully will never have contact with Britney again."

Britney: Life In The Mental Ward

"The Insider" takes you inside the world of BRITNEY SPEARS as she continues her treatment at the UCLA mental health facility.

We obtained these documents -- the same that Britney received when she was forced into psychiatric lockdown.

The hospital suggests bringing three to four inexpensive outfits, slippers and sweatpants. Lighters, matches, cell phones and cameras are strictly prohibited.

The welcome packet goes on to ration smokers like Britney to about seven cigarettes a day, and only under staff supervision.

In fact, Britney's every move is monitored, from 7:30 in the morning to 8:15 at night.

However, the mother of two is granted visitation rights. She can have up to two visitors a day. There is also time allotted for fresh air and exercise, as well as pet therapy and bingo.

Britney's Problems Are Tearing Kevin Apart

Popwreck Britney Spears may be the one undergoing inpatient care at a psychiatric facility, but her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is the parent who is struggling these days. His contact with the troubled star has been sporadic and painful, but Kevin is trying to help Britney get better.

"Kevin has had contact with Britney twice," revealed a Federline family insider, who added that the singer used her now-infamous faux British accent during one of the calls. While Kevin waits for further guidance from a psychiatrist on how to speak to his ex-wife, he tries not to let their conversations upset him. "Kevin keeps it very clinical as he does not want to create any extra emotions for Britney right now," said the insider. "The few times they chatted, Kevin had to cut it short because Britney went off on a tangent about Kevin kidnapping the boys from her. Kevin loves her — and wants her to get better for the boys — so he's trying not to let her get to him."

But K-Fed remains heartbroken that he has to keep their two young sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, away from Britney, 26, particularly now that her stay at the Stewart & Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at the UCLA Medical Center has been extended until February 19. Despite the difficulty of keeping the boys away from their mom, "he feels like it will all be worth it in the end," added the insider.

At least Kevin, 29, can take comfort in knowing that his burden is now being shared by Britney's parents, Jamie and Lynne. "Kevin is relieved that Britney's parents have finally been able to step in and force her to get help." Only time will tell if this stay in the hospital will finally work.

"Kevin is worried about Britney because he knows she must be going through hell right now, but his main concern is that she will not be in treatment long enough to turn things around." He is concerned that she will not get past the anger that she feels so intensely and start seeing the opportunity for healing and change she has in front of her, according to the insider.

EXCLUSIVE: Sam Lutfi Admits He Gave Britney Spears "A Handful Of Pills"

Sam Lutfi, who is now on the receiving end of a restraining order imposed by Britney Spears' parents, was the one person by her side as she unraveled over the past six months.

In the latest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, Spears' de facto manager and confidant opens up about her bipolar disorder, how he medicated her, what happened the night she was hospitalized, and how her parents reacted.

"In the depressive episodes, it's all crying," Lutfi tells Us. "But in the manic episode, there's very little crying or sympathy or compassion. She becomes another person. She becomes somebody that just doesn't care about anybody or anything."

"The British accent is part of the mania," he adds. "She'll stick to the British accent because she becomes comfortable with it... But you know, when the pink wig comes on, it's getting bad."

Lutfi says that when Spears was involuntarily committed to treatment at UCLA Medical Center on January 31, her mom, Lynne Spears, arrived and tried to remove her daughter from his guidance. "Well, he is better family than you guys will ever be," Spears responded, according to Lutfi.

Lutfi tells Us that he gave Britney "a handful of pills" before her parents arrived. "I said these pills are working wonders, they are miracle pills," he recalls. Spears, Lutfi says, agreed that the meds were helping her sleep.

(In their restraining order against Lutfi filed yesterday, Spears' parents accuse him of drugging their daughter and being verbally abusive. Jamie, who has been named as his daughter's conservator, "is doing what he has to do to save Britney," a source tells Us.)

Spears is one of nearly six million American adults suffering from bipolar disorder, a mental illness consisting of extreme shifts in mood, thought, energy, and behavior patterns.

Lutfi, 33, tells Us only he, Spears, and her psychiatrist know what brought on her bipolar disorder "roughly five years ago."

When the ambulance arrived to take Spears, "she was very quiet," Lutfi tells Us.

"When I told her, she wrote me a note and put a big heart on it and it said, 'I love you, Sam. Are there people coming? Circle yes or no,'" Lutfi recalls. "Oh, my God, it was funny, just the cutest little thing. I circled yes and I gave it back to her, and she looked at me and she's like, 'Oh, lord, here we go again.'"

Attorneys are fighting on Spears' behalf to take conservatorship away from Jamie. Having Jamie in control of her estate and medical decisions is a worst-case scenario for Spears, sources tell Us.

Check out the latest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, for a complete portrait of Spears' life at UCLA and more from Lutfi.

Source: Britney Will See Kids Again

Britney Spears still has at least 10 days of quality time in the psych ward of UCLA Medical Center.

But, according to an insider closer to Spears' custody battle with Kevin Federline, the "Gimme More" singer's successful completion of her hospital stint would put her on track to regain visitation rights with her children after her discharge.

"It will be monitored visitation, of course," the source tells E! News. "But still, she'll get to see her kids. They are just looking for signs that she's stabilized. But look, if she continues to take whatever medication she needs and sees her doctors regularly, they won't keep her kids from her."

Federline, 29, is aware of the possibility and isn't opposed to the visits.

"As long as she in a stable place, mentally, and there's a monitor there, he's okay with it," the source says.

Spears, 26, hasn't seen sons Sean Preston or Jayden James for more than a month. She is scheduled to remain hospitalized through Valentine's Day. The next hearing in her custody case is Feb. 19.

Separately, the K-Fed camp took a shot from Spears' side on Monday. Michael Sands, the spokesman for Federline lead attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, was the latest person to be subpoenaed in the long-playing custody clash.

Spears' legal eagles at Trope and Trope served Sands Monday, compelling him to submit to a deposition.

While Sands is not commenting on why Team Britney want to talk to him, his attorney, Randolph Wright, offers that they might be trying to press his client on what he knows about Kevin Federline's lifestyle.

"That would make sense," Wright said. "Why else bring in a top media consultant hired for Kevin's case and try to depose him? It seems to me they are trying to find out about the relationship between my client and Kevin Federline."

But Wright added that he suspects Trope and Trope will gain very little by grilling Sands.

"My guess," said Wright, "is that is will be a very short deposition."

Restraining Order Against Sam Claims He Drugged Brit, Controlled Her Life

Two orders (one for a temporary restraining order, the other a harassment order) filed against Brit's pal Sam Lutfi and obtained by X17 reveal some shocking allegations by Lynne and Jamie Spears.

The restraining order requires that Sam stay at least 250 yards away from Britney's home, vehicle, workplace, children, sibling's homes, parents' homes as well as the UCLA medical center.

The harassment order, supported by a sworn declaration by Lynne herself, claims that “Sam has essentially moved into Britney's home and has purported to take control of her life, home and finances”.

It goes on to describe the "harassment" Britney has suffered, saying "Mr. Lutfi drugged Britney. He has cut Britney's home phone line and removed her cell

phone chargers. He yells at her. He claims to control everthing -- Britney's business manager, her attorneys, and the security guards at the gate."

Lynne's declaration details the night of January 28th, the night of Brit's first meltdown after a fight with Sam outside of her home.

Some of Lynne's testimony outlined the various ways in which Sam controlled Brit, including verbal abuse (he allegedly called her "a piece of trash and a whore"), threats (he apparently told Lynne "you people throw everyone under the bus, if you don't listen to me I'm going to make your name shit in the papers"), disconnecting various cell phone chargers and car batteries so that Britney couldn't drive or communicate with anyone without his knowledge, and perhaps most shockingly, that Sam claims to "grind up Britney's pills" and puts them in her food so that she will sleep.

Britney's Life on the Inside

An X17 inside source has revealed some new information on how Britney Spears has been spending her time inside the UCLA psych ward.

According to our source:

Britney is isolated in her own ward, in a private room remodeled just two days before she arrived (they must have been expecting her) with round-the-clock security watching her every move.

Only people authorized by her doctors are allowed to see her; two doctors were already suspended for trying to get a peek at her file.

If Britney does want to visit a common area, all other patients (as well as unauthorized personnel) must evacuate.

Apparently, before Britney was admitted, the medical center had a huge staff meeting with all employees to discuss Britney protocol, and the consequences of any rule-breaking.

So why so strict?

UCLA is apparently taking Brit's safety extremely seriously, trying to avoid any situation in which Britney could be taken advantage. It sounds as if they are definitely doing their jobs, but at what cost?

Being completely isolated from other patients, reportedly refusing to see her parents, and being cut-off from her friend, it must be a very lonely existence for Britney.

Although that might be just what she needs.

The Tragedy of Britney Spears

A pop star at the mall is an eternal cause for happiness, especially on a Sunday afternoon in the Valley. One moment, shoppers in the Westfield Topanga mall are living in the real world, monotonously selecting a new shade of eye shadow or rubbing perfume on wrists, but upon the rapture of Britney Spears, they are giggling, laughing, orgasmic, already sharing their secret on cell phones. "Her legs are actually really skinny," an adolescent whispers into her Sidekick, as Britney beelines for the Betsey Johnson boutique, pseudo-punk designer of evening dresses and splashy heels worn to suburban high school proms. In person, Britney is shockingly beautiful — clear skin, ruby lips, a perfectly proportioned twenty-six-year-old porcelain doll with a nasty weave. She cuts through the crowd swiftly, the way she used to when 20,000 adoring fans mobbed her outside a concert, with her paparazzi boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib, trailing behind.

Only a few kids are in the store, a young girl with her brother and two blondes checking out fake-gold charm bracelets. Britney rifles the racks as the Cure's "Pictures of You" blasts into the airless pink boutique, grabbing a pink lace dress, a few tight black numbers and a frilly red crop top, the kind of shirt that Britney used to wear all the time at seventeen but isn't really appropriate for anyone over that age. Then she ducks into the dressing room with Ghalib. He emerges with her black Am Ex.

The card won't go through, but they keep trying it.

"Please," begs Ghalib, "get this done quickly."

One of the girls runs to Britney's dressing room, explaining the situation through a pink gauze curtain.

A wail emerges from the cubby — guttural, vile, the kind of base animalistic shriek only heard at a family member's deathbed. "Fuck these bitches," screams Britney, each word ringing out between sobs. "These idiots can't do anything right!"

Ghalib dashes over to console her, but she's already spitting, growling, throwing a big bottle of soda on the floor so that it begins to spill underneath the curtain, and then she's got a box of tissues and is throwing them on top of the wet floor along with piles of discarded merchandise. A new card finally goes through, but by then Britney is out the door, leaving her shirt on the ground and replacing it with the red top. "Fuck you, fuck people, fuck, fuck, fuck," she keeps screaming, her face splotchy and red as she crosses the interminable mall floor, the crowd behind her growing larger and larger. "Leave us alone!" yells Ghalib.

The siblings run after Britney to get a video to put up on YouTube, and some of the shopgirls run after her to hand off the merchandise she left behind, and there's an entire bridal party wearing yellow T-shirts who have pulled out camera phones too. A crush of managers in black shirts and gold name tags try to keep the peace, but the crowd running after Britney gets larger, and now the shopgirls have started to catch up to her, one of them slipping spectacularly in her platform shoes, grazing her elbow. She pulls herself up, mustering the strength to tap Britney's shoulder. "Um, I'm from the South too," she mumbles, "and I was wondering if I could get a picture with you for my little sister."

Britney turns to Ghalib and grabs his arm. "I don't want her talking to me!" she screams. She whirls around and stares the girl deep in the eyes, her lips almost vibrating with anger. "I don't know who you think I am, bitch," she snarls, "but I'm not that person."

Britney Pleads With Father: 'Let's Get Out Of Here'

Britney Spears's father has recounted a heartbreaking meeting with his confused daughter as she struggled to cope in a psychiatric hospital.

"Come on, daddy, let's get out of here. Take my hand and let's walk out of here together," Britney said, according to Jamie Spears.

Jamie told her daughter: "I wish I could, but I can't."

In court papers filed as part of his effort to take over his daughter's affairs, Jamie Spears described how he arrived at UCLA Medical Center on Sunday. Britney had called him several times while he was working as a caterer for a Super Bowl party, urging him to see her. (Click here to view the complete document.)

Jamie Spears, who had spent several hours with Britney the day before at the hospital, found his daughter lying in bed. He leaned over to kiss her, but she turned her head away.

"I love you," he told her.

"No, you don't," said Britney. She got out of bed and said, "The doctor told me you are keeping me in here."

Jamie Spears denied it, but Britney insisted, saying, "Somebody's lying. You put me in here."

After the nurse assured Britney that, "Your daddy is not keeping you here; the hospital is keeping you here," Britney turned to her father. That was when she pleaded to leave – and her father said they couldn't.

When Britney became agitated, her father started talking about her sons Jayden and Preston, now in the custody of their father, Kevin Federline.

"Do you want me to help you get your babies back?" he asked her.

Britney, "No, I have new lawyers that will help me with my stuff."

But her father had to tell her that she had not actually fired her custody lawyers, and that there were now new lawyers involved in dealing with her affairs. Jamie said that if she needed help with the custody case, he would be there for her.

The conversation ended with Britney saying that her pal Sam Lutfi had wrongfully taken some of her property and she asked her father for help to get it back. Her father said he would.

Sam Selling His Story!!!!

As we knew he would, PerezHilton.com has learned that Osama Lutfi is shopping a tell-all interview.

And he's hoping for a big pay day!

"He's already reached out to a few of the entertainment news shows," a TV insider tells us. "He's trying to broker the best deal."

Don't be surprised if Entertainment Tonight and The Insider pay him for an interview they stretch out over a week, like they did with Britney's paparazzo boy toy, Adnan Ghalib.

Additionally, Osama spoke on-the record with Rolling Stone for their cover story on Spears.

And, what he tells them is quite surprising!

"We've been doing dictation, she's been telling me her story, and I've been writing it all down," Lutfi tells the mag. "It would make a great book!"

We're sure it would, you shady backstabber.

Jamie's Lawyer Deny "Hostile Takeover"

Attorney Jeryll Cohen, who reps Jamie, submitted a declaration to the conservatorship commissioner, claiming Brit's divorce lawyers got it all wrong when they assumed Jamie was a control freak.

In the declaration, Cohen says Ron Rale, a high-powered lawyer at Trope and Trope, "accused Mr. Spears of attempting 'nothing more than a hostile takeover of our client for improper purposes.'"

Cohen says Jamie was looking "for the least ugly way to save this young woman's life, bring her back to her babies, and keep her safe from predators."

Jamie Feared Lutfi Might Get Wise

Britney's dad, Jamie Spears, submitted a declaration in support of the conservatorship, stating that they didn't tell Britney about the conservatorship because given her "emotional and psychological condition and her dealings with Mr. Lutfi, I believe Britney is incapable of keeping information from Mr. Lutfi. In particular, I believe if she knew I was planning to seek a conservatorship, she would tell Mr. Lufti about the planned conservatorship."

Lynne's Declaration

I, Lynne Spears, declare:

I am the mother of Britney Spears (“Britney”)., who is the subject of this action. I have personal knowledge of each of the facts set forth in this Declaration, and can testify completely thereto, except as this matters stated on information and belief, and as to such matters I believe them to be true.

This past Monday night (Jan. 28), Britney’s father, Jamie, and I (in separate cars) went to Britney’s house in Beverly Hills because we had heard news reports that Britney had just been in a big fight with Sam Lufti aka Sam Lufti (“sam”), the man who has inserted himself into my daughter’s life, home and finances, and that she was crying. We were very concerned about her safety. We arrived at the Summit Community gatehouse in BHPO at approximately 10 p.m. I was with my friend Jackie.

The guards at the gatehouse stopped us there for awhile. Jackie, Jamie and I finally proceeded to Britney’s house and entered it. We were able to enter the house because it was not locked. Britney does not lock her doors and currently there are no security guards around her residence. Britney was not home. We found Sam, and sam said as we walked in the door that Britney only wanted me to come to the house, and that she was afraid to see her dad.

Two or three paparazzi came into the house and entered the kitchen. They greeted Sam. The paparazzi then reported to Sam where Britney currently was. From the conversation between Sam and the paparazzi I determined that sam had given Felipe (another paparazzi) one of Britney’s cars to get her out of the house when he heard that Jamie and I were on our way to see Britney. I also understood from the conversation that Sam disabled all of Britney's cars. (she has several at her residence.)

Sam had told Britney that Jamie and I were coming to the house to do an intervention, and that Britney panicked and took off with Felipe. Another man named Chad Hardcastle was in the house.

I also heard the evening that Britney’s and Sam’s fight that evening, Sam had told Britney that she was an unfit mother, a piece of trash and a whore, that she cares more about Adnan, her current boyfriend, than she cares about her kids, and that she does not deserve her kids.
The paparazzi reported to Sam and addressed him with great respect. They treated him like a general. He instructed them to get her back to the house. They later told Sam that Britney was on her way back.

Britney then came back to the house with Adnan, who is also a paparazzi. Sam then told Jackie that we needed to do whatever he tells us. I objected. He then told me, “I’m the one who spends 24/7 with your daughter. I sleep in cars outside her house so she can’t leave.” Sam then said, “You people throw everyone under the bus, if you don’t listen to me I’m going to make your name sh** in the papers.”

As I looked around the kitchen, I noticed that in the middle of the kitchen table there was a large car battery. At some point during the evening I learned that the car battery was there so Sam could charge his cell phone. Although Britney has several cell phones, he told us that he had disposed of all of the phone chargers and had made the house phones unworkable.

Sam told Jackie and me to tell ADnan to leave Britney alone and to get the F*** out of the house. Jackie refused. Sam then said to tell Britney that Adnan is gay. Adnan stayed at the house a little longer. Sam quietly said something to Adnan and Adnan promptly left the house.

Britney came into the room looking for Adnan. Sam told her that Adnan was in the bathroom. Britney then asked me, “Is Adnan gay?” While Britney was out of earshot, Sam told Jackie and me that we should pretend that Adnan was in the bathroom so Britney wouldn’t leave.

Britney then became very agitated and could not stop moving. She cleaned the house. She changed her clothes many times. She also changed her three dogs’ clothes many times. Britney spoke to me in a tone and with the level of understanding of a very young girl. Britney then picked up a bottle of pill sand read part of the label and asked us, “What does insomnia mean?” Sam told her that the pills will help her stay awake.

Sam told Jackie and me that he grinds up Britney’s pills, which were on the counter and included Risperdol and Seroquel. He told us that he puts them in her food that that was the reason she had been quiet for the last three days (she had been sleeping.) He told us that the doctor who is treating her now is trying to get her into a sleep-induced coma so that they could then give her drugs to heal her brain.

Sam then encouraged us to sit down on a sofa and do “tequila shots.” Jackie and I said we did not want to. Britney seemed to follow our lead. Sam then got some wine out and said, “Let’s all do toasts with wine.” Britney said that she didn’t want to, she wanted a pretty glass. Sam found a glass with a stem and poured wine for Britney when we were not looking. Britney refused to drink her wine and asked to drink mine.

Shortly afterward, Sam went back into the kitchen and was standing behind a raised bar so that we could not see what his hands were doing on the counter. Sam then said to Britney, “let’s go upstairs,” and Britney followed him. Britney had calmed down by the time she went upstairs.
A little while later, Britney came downstairs. She seemed agitated again and told us that she wanted to go to Rite Aid for lipsticks. It was now past midnight. Jackie and I said we would take her. Sam told us that he wanted to follow us in his car. We told him that he shouldn’t because the paparazzi were in front of the neighbor’s house and would harass us. As were were about to drive off, Sam jumped into the bask seat of the car. The paparazzi followed. Sam and I were sitting in the back seat, with Chad as well. He told me that he gave Britney something (when they were upstairs) to make her more light-hearted, happy, and fun. We entered Rite Aid and Britney chose her lipstick. The manager said it is dangerous out there, which it was. When Britney gave the cashier her credit card, the cahsier told her it was not working. I paid for the lipstick and the manager told us we could leave through the side door so no one could see us. Sam insisted we leave through the front door and he put his arms around Britney and me for the paparazzi to take photos. I disengaged as quickly as I could.

Sam told me,” You’d better learn that I control everything. I control Howard Grossman, Britney’s business manger. I control her attorney's and the security guards at the gate. They don’t listen to Britney, they listen to me. That’s why Jamie was gone tonight.”
At another point in the evening, Sam bragged to me that he is the one who receives Britney's checks and that one of them was for me. I told Sam that I hadn't gotten any checks from Britney. Sam then told me that they are in his car. He told me that if he weren't in the house to give Britney her medicine, she would kill herself. Then he said to me "If you try to get rid of me, she'll be dead and I'll piss on her grave."

He then proclaimed that he has been in the family for a year and that he had one nothing but good for Britney. At this point, it was two or three in the morning. Britney was meandering around the house. She would let me hug her, but she was out of it.

At one point during the night, Sam was screaming at me and Britney said to me, “Sam treats me like that.” Then she picked up the house phone and said, “Look at the phone, it doesn’t work.” Sam then blamed the dead phone on Britney. Jackie spoke up and said to Sam, “You said you cut down the phone wire.”

Britney then said again at some point during the night, “When do I get to see my babies?” Sam answered, “Wednesday. “ Britney then said, “What do I have to do to see them?” Sam responded, “Take the pills I tell you to take.” Britney said, “I don’t like the pills and I don’t like the psychiatrist. Can’t I see another psychiatrist so I can see my babies?” Sam responded, “If I told you to take 10 pills a day, you should do what I tell you to see your babies.” Jackie then said, “Britney, your parents can help you find a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist needs to get to know you to give you the right medicine.” Sam then raised his voice and said, “Why don’t you get back with Kevin.”

Britney then said, “I’ll do anything to get them back.”
At some point during the evening, Sam said that Britney decided that he should be her manager.
Adnan has called me and told me he’s worried about Britney. He told me that Sam hides the phones and tells her he has lost them. He also hides her dog, London. She looks for him all over the house crying and then Sam brings the dog from the hiding place and acts like her savior.
While we were at Rite Aid, Britney went in and out of her British accent.
At 4 a.m., I was exhausted and wanted to leave. Sam blocked my car so I could not leave. I threatened to call Jamie on the phone.

Britney said, “I want my Daddy up here. I want to talk to my Daddy.” I reached Jamie on the phone and gave the phone to Britney. I heard her tell him that she wanted to see him. He said, “right now baby?” and she said, “no.” He said, “10:00 in the morning?” and she said, “no, noon.”
I spent the rest of the night at Britney’s house and for the first time in a very long time, when I lay down to sleep, I felt very agitated. I could not fall asleep at all. I felt like I had had coffee. Jackie, who had gone home earlier, later told me that she also could not sleep at all, and felt like she had had coffee.

Jamie came to pick me up the next morning. Jamie gave Britney a big hug and said to her, “baby, you’re OK?” Britney said, “I’m fine,” then burst into tears.
“To my knowledge, Britney never went to sleep that night and was very agitated for most of the night.

Sam and Chad, however, slept in the “smoking room,” a small room downstairs on the first floor of the house.

Later the next day, on January 29, Jackie showed me a text message she had received from Sam: “Thanks for telling Jamie all your bulls**t. He just hit me. Now you guys did your deed. Much accomplished. Good job.

I did not see Britney again until I arrived at her house on Wednesday night after Sam called me and told me to come to the house. When we arrived, Britney seemed subdued. The police arrived and took her to the Neuro Psychiatric Institute at UCLA (“NPI”). While at NPI, I l earned that Britney informed her doctor, Lee Sadja, MD, that she had also taken Aderol.
I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of California that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on January 31, 2008 at Los Angeles, California.
